Goldfish and koi make ideal ornamental pets. With little effort you can develop a friendship with your fish by feeding them floating food once a day, as much as they can eat in 3 to 5 minutes. Stop feeding when the water temperature drops below 50 derees F. Use a Pond Thermometer.
They are the easiest, most undemanding pets you may ever have. Don't worry if you're going on vacation for a week or two. They will survive. Submerged plants and moss-like algae along the pool sides are good for them. To alleviate any guilt feelings you may have, consider Vacation Food which will time release while you are away.
Prior to adding fish to your pond treat with Stress Coat or Dechlor if you have chlorinated water and use Melafix when adding fish to an existing population.
All fish are intended for use in enclosed bodies of water. Check with your local extension agency prior to adding any fish to a non-enclosed enviroment.
