POND MANAGEMENT
Remove any debris from the surface of the pond with a Net.
Remove debris from the bottom of the pond with a Vacuum.
Top off the pond with water as needed. Remember to use a Dechlorinator.
Recirculate your pond's entire volume up to once an hour, and keep it recirculating 24 hours a day.
Check your Submersible Pump regularly for blockage, and clean or replace Pre-filters as necessary.
Clean Filter Media as needed and replenish Filter with Beneficial Bacteria.
PLANTS
Remove spent flowers, yellowing foliage and excess plant growth at least once a week. Try using the Lily Prune.
Fertilize Waterlilies and other flowering plants with Lilytabs once or twice a month. Try using an Inject-a-Tab.
Plant Tropical Lilies and Tropical Bogs when the water temperature stays above 70 degrees F. Use a Pond Thermometer.
Remove over-exuberant floating plants.
Blast insects off of plants using cold water from a garden hose.
Remove and dispose of infested or diseased plants or plant parts.
WATER QUALITY
Back-flush or clean Filters as needed to keep ammonia levels at a minimum, and add Beneficial Bacteria after cleaning the Filter Media.
Test water for ammonia and nitrite levels with a Test Kit and do a 25% water change if necessary.
FISH CARE
Once water temperatures reach 60 degrees F, switch from high carbohydrate food to a high protein food such as Lilypons Koi Cuisine.
Under normal conditions, the fish should be fed once per day with what they can consume in five minutes. In larger pond, or in koi ponds, although we do not recommend it, you may feed the fish two to three time per day, but only with adequate Filtration.
Keep an eye on your fish for any signs of ill health, sores or other visible damage and treat as necessary. Fish gasping at the surface may indicate poor water quality (usually low oxygen content).
