Bright yellow flowers appear in early spring (late April in the mid-Atlantic area) to provide the the first color to a water garden. This plant's historical value as a medicinal herb and dye plant led it from its origin in Europe to North America in the eighteenth century. It has now naturalized over most of the continent, though it is restricted in some states. It is a strong, vigorous grower, that rarely requires fertilization, and should be divided and transplanted annually in most situations.
Native to Europe.
